About

As Professor of English Language and Linguistics with over 25 years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of dedicating my life to what I love most: languages, teaching, learning and trying to use this knowledge to connect people. My work as a researcher, linguist and freelance translator is driven by a deep fascination with how language shapes our understanding of the world, how it reflects culture, sparks creativity, and reveals the workings of the human mind. Throughout my academic journey, I have been fortunate to teach what I explore in my research, mostly topics that lie at the heart of human connection: language, discourse, culture, and cognition.

My research mainly focuses on exploring different aspects of language use in diverse contexts, with the focus on the interaction of language, culture and cognition, both in the theorethical and applied sense. I have published extensively in the field of Cognitive and Cultural Linguistics, Pragmatics and Translation Studies. Some of my recent publications include a monograph, Multimodal Humour at Play: a cultural linguistic perspective (2023), and a co-edited volume Cultural Linguistics and the Social World (Springer, 2024), which deals with broader topics such as contemporary society, migration, and identity from a linguistic perspective.
